App Review- PhotoBooth (iPad)

The snazzy new iPad PhotoBooth icon looks familiar...

Due to our readers wanting us to publish more App reviews, we've brought together one for the newly released app for iPad, PhotoBooth. It's basically got all the effects of the Mac version of PhotoBooth except the custom backgrounds. It successfully utilizes the iPad 2's front and back facing cameras. Theres not much to it but every photo is autimatically saved to your photo library, and this can come in handy if you want to display it as a slideshow or stream it through your Apple TV. You can also mail it to your frieds with its in built feature.

This app is pretty much just for laughs and just for the iPad 2 and I think the next step for Apple is to bring it to the iPhone and iPod touch 4g. I am sure many people will buy it on the iPad 2 and many more on the other 2 iDevices.

As you can see, most of the effects are exactly the same

iOS 4.3- Finally!

After the long wait, iOS 4.3 has finally been released for the public. One of the improvements is the enhancement of Airplay. Now along with movies, music and photos, you can now stream videos from your Photos app. Basically, this means you can shoot a video and then stream it through your Apple TV so that everyone in the room can watch. Apple has also integrated the new Nitro JavaScript engine to power Safari, and according to Apple, Safari is now twice as fast as it was in 4.2. They have also added a feature to make your iPhone 4 a Wi-fi hotspot for your Wi-fi capable device, but only 5 devices can use it at a time. The very clever people at Apple have also made the Wi-fi hotspot password protected and battery-friendly as it will detect if it isn't being used and automatically turn off.

Overall, I think Apple is doing a good job and as long as these updates are free, I think most of us will be happy.

iPad 2- Big surprise?

The arrival of the new iPad may not have been as surprising to the public as Apple may have believed. Most people on the net had already guessed of the input of a camera, and making things thinner is just one of  the things Apple does, but at least there weren't any disappointments. The design is 33% thinner and 15% lighter than its predecessor and its got a dual-core A5 chip and according to Apple, its 2 times faster than the old iPad. It also has front and back facing cameras to aid Facetime. The cameras have also allowed Apple to introduce a new app, Photobooth (Yes, its the very same app from your Mac). Another add-on is the iPad smart-cover, which is a flexible, magnetic cover, and from what i've seen, its pretty cool. It also comes in black or white.

Overall, the iPad 2 has actually evolved the iPad, which rarely happens with technology these days. Keep up the good work Apple!

New Macbook Pro released

Sorry for the huge gap between posts, we've been a bit busy, but we thought after all the new things that Apple is releasing, we didn't wan't to leave our readers out. As you might already know, the new Macbook pro has just been released. In looks, not much has changed, but the insides a different story. The 13 inch model has an intel core duo i7 processor while the 15 and  17 inch ones have and intel quad core i7 processor. They have also introduced Thunderbolt, which is apparently the fastest and most versatile I/O ever in a notebook. The 15 and 17 inch Macbook pros have switched to the new high-performance AMD Radeon graphics processors with up to 3 times the performance of previous models.

Overall, I think that most of these advancements would most suit a hardcore gamer, but at least Apple's giving Microsoft a challenge.
